A-Levels – Eve Young’s story

August 18, 2016

At my high school, we were told that any A-Level grade below a B wouldn’t get you into university, which of course isn’t the case, and coming from a school that put so much pressure on their students tricked me into thinking that university was the only route worth taking.

Because of this, A-Level results day was one of the most stressful days of my life. I got grades that I was happy with and I went to university, but after a horrible first year I quickly learned it wasn’t for me at all - I honestly couldn’t see what all the fuss was about.

I felt like I’d be the odd one out or be looked down upon if I was the only one out of my friends to not gain a degree, but after being at The Juice Academy for four months, I’m so happy that I didn’t put myself through two more awful years just because I was worried about what other people might think.

Every year on A-Level results day, so many students worry themselves sick over a future they might not even want, so it’s important to remember that there’s so much more you can do besides university that is just as worthwhile, if not more so. If I’d have known about The Juice Academy at the time, I would have saved myself a lot of stress and money.

Now, I’m working towards a respected qualification, gaining real life experience and earning money at the same time, whilst many of my friends are in serious debt or struggling to find a grad job. All too often I’d witness them coming home from uni saying their lecture was a waste of time and that they didn’t learn anything.

That used to be me, but being in the work environment all day every day it’s impossible not to learn - I learned more in my first month with The Juice Academy than I did in a whole year at uni. Enrolling with them was the best decision I’ve made in a while and now I know that university is just not for everyone and there’s no shame in that, so it could be that there’s something else out there far better suited to you, too
