Last Week, The Juice Academy Hosted its Debut 'An Evening With...' Event

Imagine you were an apprentice but sure at some point in your career you'd like to run your own business ... and NOW you've been given the chance to interview a successful entrepreneur?

Last week, The Juice Academy brought this to life when we hosted our debut ‘An Evening With...’ event. We kicked-off this series of events with Neil McArthur MBE, a founder of Opal Telecoms that formed global enterprise TalkTalk, and eventually was sold to Carphone Warehouse. Neil is now semi-retired but still very active in TalkTalk and his charity, Hamilton Davies Trust, as well as being Chairman of Tech Manchester.

Neil was interviewed by our digital marketing apprentices, Bethany Orrow of My Accountancy Place, and Emma Green of UTC@MediaCityUK - soon to be the Northern Powerhouse Partnership. Apprentices dominated the audience with a mix of other guests, including Lavinia Ferguson and Matthew Townsend from Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, Suzanne Quigley from Salford City Council and Mark Dobson from the Royal Exchange Theatre.

Our Chair, Sandy Lindsay MBE commented: ‘A few of the apprentices approached us and said that they wanted to own their own businesses in the future. They came up with the idea of an entrepreneurial ‘hub’ where they could seek advice and guidance. We thought we’d do one better and created ‘An Evening With…’ –an entertaining and insightful event which will give our apprentices an opportunity to interview a leading entrepreneur on their journey to success.”

Our quarterly ‘An Evening With…’ event will welcome current and former apprentices and their employers, in addition to ‘friends’ of the Academy. At last week’s event, it was announced that Dom McGregor, COO and co-founder of Social Chain, will be the leading entrepreneur interviewed at our upcoming event in February.
