An Evening with... Dominic Mcgregor

THE JUICE ACADEMY WELCOMED SOCIAL CHAIN CO-FOUNDER DOMINIC MCGREGOR FOR OUR SECOND ‘AN EVENING WITH…’ EVENT

Some of our Juice Academy apprentices are already thinking about running their own businesses in the future, and we love to encourage that drive and ambition, so what better way than giving them the opportunity to interview a successful entrepreneur and hear for themselves about starting up and running a business?

Following the success of our debut ‘An Evening With..’ event where apprentices Emma Green and Bethany Orrow interviewed telecoms mogul Neil McArthur MBE, Tangerine’s The Juice Academy welcomed Social Chain COO Dominic McGregor to be interviewed by apprentices Kerryn Zendera from Victoria Warehouse and Usama Anjum from the North West Apprentice Ambassador Network.

In case you haven’t heard, Social Chain is a Social Media Marketing Agency that runs some of the biggest social media accounts out there, working with massive names such as Superdry, BooHoo, Amazon, ASOS and the BBC, to name just a few!

RSM kindly sponsored and hosted the evening where Dominic spoke about how his interest in Social Media spawned from running out of toilet roll as a student, leading to the creation of Facebook page Student Problems, which now has over seven million followers. Kerryn and Usama also invited Dominic to speak about mental health, a topic he openly discusses in a bid to raise awareness about mental health, particularly in young men.

Sandy Lindsay MBE, our Chair of The Juice Academy said: ‘A few of our apprentices came to us and said they want to own their own businesses in the future and asked if we could run an entrepreneurial hub where they could come and get advice. So we thought we’d do one better and create an entertaining evening where they can interview successful entrepreneurs. It was such a privilege to have Dominic McGregor involved in the event; the guys at Social Chain have been fantastic supporters of The Juice Academy and have continually employed apprentices from our programme.’

Not only was it a great experience for apprentices Kerryn and Usama to interview Dominic, but an insightful and entertaining evening for the audience, who also had the opportunity to ask Dominic their own questions with a Q&A following the interview. Despite adverse weather conditions (thanks to the Beast from the East!) we were delighted with how many people came in support of The Juice Academy and a massive thank you to Dominic McGregor and sponsors RSM for hosting such a fantastic evening.
