The #JuiceAcademyProject is unveiled!

Two artists from the University of Salford have given our classroom an impressive ‘social media makeover’ – and we love it!

Tash Willcocks, the university’s Graphic Design programme leader, and her recent course graduate, Will Berry, had a blank canvas to work with and couldn’t wait to get started.

The bare walls of the classroom desperately needed some personality, so Tash and Will rolled up their sleeves to completely transform the white walls – using art pens in the Academy colours of green, orange and black – in just one day.

The pair created a variety of designs, including a flock of flying Twitter birds, evolving from the Twitter egg, to create a young, edgy vibe in the classroom. We unveiled the artwork to the apprentices bright and early this morning and we’re looking forward to seeing the faces of our next cohort in late September as they take a #selfie or two in the loos!

They’ll even have the chance to add their own stamp to the ‘Twitter wall of fame’, which currently displays social stars Weird Horse and Grumpy Cat.

Lucy Adams, The Juice Academy’s project co-ordinator, said: “Tash and Will have done an amazing job – they’ve transformed our classroom in a matter of hours and the apprentices absolutely love it.

“This is not a traditional apprenticeship by any means, but in the same way a school classroom displays its subject content, the Academy now has a flock of Twitter birds and tributes to social media stars to inspire our own.”

Tash said: “This has been a really exciting project to be involved with. It’s always great when you’re given complete creative steer and Lucy was more than happy for us to use social media as a base to give the classroom some personality.”

Will added: “It’s a pleasure to put my skills into practice to transform a space like this, especially since I’ve only just graduated. It was a busy few hours on the day but we’re both really happy with the finished artwork.”

Applications from apprentices and businesses are still being welcomed for our next intake of apprentices – the deadline for submissions is Friday 20th September.
