HOW TO USE THE LAW OF ATTRACTION TO MANIFEST YOUR DREAM JOB
I am a very strong believer in the law of attraction. Since learning about the concept in 2017 I have successfully utilised it in several aspects of my life; fitness, relationships and most recently, in my career.
Essentially, your thoughts turn into things, so if you have positive thoughts, positive things will happen.
Here’s a simple example, you know those days where everything seems to go wrong? You sleep through your alarm, burn your toast, catch your coat on the door handle and then you’re late for work and it feels like it’s just one thing after another. From the moment you realised you overslept you have projected a negative energy out into the universe. Since you attract the energy you put out, the universe has responded by sending this negativity back to you, again and again.
So, how can you use the law of attraction to get the things you want in life? If you put energy into your goals, you will attract them into your life. So, whether it’s a career, friendship or happiness, if you consistently think about it, feel passionate about it and speak about it, eventually it will come to you. This is called manifestation.
When Covid hit I was inexperienced and unemployed. One year later and I am working for an incredible company, in a position I thought I would never be qualified for AND completing a Level 3 Junior Content Producer Apprenticeship. Everyone’s journey is different, but these are my biggest tips on how to manifest your dream job.
The first step and in my opinion, the hardest, is deciding what you want in life. When I graduated with a history degree in 2019, I had no clue what career I wanted. I had no sense of direction and every job I looked at I told myself I wasn’t suited or qualified for. If you are going to invest your time, do not spend it scrolling through Indeed applying for every job with the same generic CV. In order for the law of attraction to take place you must be extremely precise with your goals. My advice to you would be take the time to intensively research the different careers out there and find out what it is you feel truly passionate about. This may take a significant amount of time, but from experience I can tell you it is invaluable and worth every second.
Next, you should intentionally manifest your goal. If you dream of becoming a vet, tell your friends and family about your ambitions, research what steps you need to take, write it down, speak it into existence again and again. Keep a clear vision of yourself in your desired role at the forefront of your mind at all times. Eventually, manifestation will come naturally and be an underlying part of your subconscious.
An extremely important lesson I have learnt since graduating, is the importance of networking. According to the law of attraction, if you want to be happy, you need to surround yourself with positive people. Likewise, if you want to work in the financial industry, you need to surround yourself with those who work or have worked in the financial industry. There is so much you can learn from people, over LinkedIn, coffee dates or events. The more relevant people you reach out to, the deeper your knowledge of the industry and what it takes to make it in said industry becomes. Hence, the vision of your future self in your dream role becomes clearer. There is only so much you can learn from Google, by interacting with people in your desired industry, you will pick up on their energy, attitudes, actions and confidence in the field. Eventually, you will come to reflect these qualities.
And lastly, believe in yourself. Those who constantly think ‘I am not good enough, I can’t do this, I will never achieve my goals,’ will not succeed. You must not let negative thoughts or setbacks allow you to waver from the everyday manifestation of your goal. You need to wake up each morning with absolute certainty that one day you will be working in your dream job and there is no other alternative. Constantly remind yourself you are capable of securing it and one day it will be a reality. This isn’t to say you don’t need to put the work in, but you need to be brave enough to have ambitions. Tell yourself you can and you will do it. Think it, write it down, say it to yourself in the mirror, say it to those around you. Keep doing this until you genuinely and passionately believe it. It may be hard, it may take longer than you expected and you may face setbacks. But as long as you believe in your vision, it will manifest into your reality.
To cheesily quote my favourite childhood movie;
‘You had the power all along my dear’ – Glinda the Good Witch, The Wizard of Oz
